Blog #3: Inclusive Design

Amending to everyones needs is such a crucial part of learning. To think about it more, we do not realize how much support we get in our daily lives is often overlooked because it is such a habit to us. It is the same for individuals learning new aspects. The more ways to support and aid for those individuals the more simple it gets for them. We should all be permitted and have access to receive the support we need for anything. The idea of an inclusive design is to provide accessibility for support, options and flexibility for all learners. As a learner myself, I have noticed the adaptability of universities throughout the pandemic. Teachers were put into positions where they had to be able to still teach the materials but through a whole new way. Being able to provide students with their education through technology, and still offer accessible resources for those that need it, is an example of inclusivity and accessibility.

As everyone has learnt from the global pandemic, it is important to be able to use technology in a way that will still offer help if needed. I think that being able to teach from an online mode is very important incase this were to happen again. This also offers a way of learning for individuals who are unable to attend in person classes everyday or at all. All learning plans should be able to be taught in an online manner in order for a transition (if needed) to online schooling goes smoothly.

Being inclusive for all learners is crucial to us, as we each have our own preferred learning techniques, we strive to ensure support is accessible for everyone. In order to ensure throughout our interactive learning resource that all learners needs are met, we will provide a video alongside our presentation. This will ensure that individuals that have a hard time following or prefer hearing the content rather than reading it. We will also provide closed captions with our video. This helps for individuals who prefer or are required to read what is being spoken.
